      Introduction

      Connected, collaborative

Given that it is the title of a course, there must be some idea behind the claim that journalism desrves studying as global journalism. What is the distinction? Considering how globalized our world today is, should not and does not journalism reflect that fact? On any given day, there are whirlwinds of news and twees about and by President Do9nal Trump, but is not that ultimately very local? Does it not have its origins in the White House, on Pensylvania Avenue in Washington DC? A very local place, by most accounts. And yet about as global a place as they come, in terms of impact, visibility, news focus and general place in people´s awarness around the world. In short, the idea of “global” is a complex one. That is one reason why the idea of “global journalism” also is complex.

      Time to study….
